TRAVEL and STAY
MERIDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MID)
It’s the most convenient airport to arrive at, though it may have limited flight connections. If you’re flying directly into Mérida, here are your options for getting into the city:If you’re flying directly into Mérida, there’s a few options to get around:
- Uber: For the best rate, cross the street from the airport before requesting your ride (taxis and Uber don’t mix well here). Fares typically range from $80–$150 MXN.
- Va-y-Ven Bus: An affordable public bus service costing about $40 MXN.
- Taxi: Official airport taxis are safe and reliable, with fares averaging around $400 MXN.
CANCÚN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CUN)
CUN is a major international airport located about 3.5–4 hours east of Mérida. It offers far more flight options than MID but requires a longer transfer. You can reach Mérida by rental car, bus, private shuttle, or the new Tren Maya train.
For those flying into Cancún, we recommend ADO, a trusted bus company offering convenient, direct routes from Cancún to Mérida. It’s very well connected, and you can purchase tickets in advance online or at the airport. The ADO ticket booth is located just outside the terminal, where you’ll easily spot their large red buses.
WHERE TO STAY
We highly recommend staying in the center of town, where you’ll find plenty of hotels for every budget as well as charming Airbnbs. Staying near the church puts you right at the heart of the city, with restaurants, shops, and attractions just steps away. If you decide to stay outside the center, no problem—Uber is widely available and makes it easy to get from point A to point B at any time.
WHAT to WEAR
ATTIRE GUIDE
We’re aiming for dressy semi-formal: elegant and polished without black-tie formality. Floor-length dresses are welcome if you’d like to go long, but please avoid ultra-formal ballgowns; short or mini cocktail dresses are discouraged — midi or full-length hemlines preferred. Tailored linen works works. Men should wear a suit or blazer with trousers (tie optional). As the ceremony will be in a church, please have shoulders covered for the service.
Of course we want you to be comfortable — if you’re unsure about an outfit, just drop us a message. If you’d like to coordinate with our colors and tones, see the palette below.
OUR love STORY
MAY 1, 2022
ALBUFEIRA, PORTUGAL
JOSHUA, LIVING IN WALES at the time, had joined his cousin’s stag do for a long weekend away. Rosie, living in Spain, decided on a whim to take a solo holiday to the Algarve. Neither of them had any idea they were about to meet the love of their life.
THAT NIGHT, JOSHUA was out with his friends and cousins, enjoying their final evening in Portugal. Rosie was wandering through the old town, soaking in the music, the crowds, and the warm night air. It was pure coincidence they crossed paths—Joshua and his group hadn’t even planned to be in the old town, but one thing led to another, and they found themselves outside Dominos, a lively little bar.
ROSIE PASSED BY JOSHUA not once, not twice, but three times. And each time, he noticed the gorgeous girl strolling past. On the third pass, he couldn’t resist teasing her: “Are you trying to burn calories?” Rosie stopped in her tracks, wondering if she’d heard him right. “What?” she asked, half‑confused, half‑curious. And just like that, the spark was lit.
THEY SPENT THE REST of the night talking and dancing, as if they’d known each other for years. Before they parted ways in the early hours, Joshua asked for her number. Several texts, phone calls, and a few weeks later, Joshua decided to visit Seville—where Rosie happened to live. It was there, wandering the streets together, that they both knew: this was love.
A FEW YEARS, countless flights, and one long‑distance relationship later, here they are—proving that even oceans and borders can’t keep true love apart.
